This is easiest of the rice to cook on a lazy day and can be carried for train journey.
Basmati rice-2 cups(cooked)
Vegetable/sunflower cooking oil-2 tbsp
Mustard seeds-1 tsp
Urad dal-1 tsp
Asafoetida-1/8 tsp
Urad dal-1 tsp
Asafoetida-1/8 tsp
Curry leaves-1 stalk
Red chillies-2 nos
Peanuts-1/2 cup
Turmeric powder-1 tsp
Lemon-1 nd 1/2 nos(Juice)
Salt to taste
Method Of Preparation:
- Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds, urad dal,curry leaves and red chillies. Fry till the spluttering stops. Add the peanuts,asafoetida. Fry for few minutes, till it gets roasted. Add the turmeric powder and turn off the heat.
- Add the lemon juice and mix well.
- Add the cooked rice, salt to taste and mix thoroughly.
- Serve with a side dish or pickle
Tips:
1. Cook 2 cups of basmati rice with four cups of water.
